Gifting Responsibly and Sustainably
We’re all under no illusions – we need to look after our planet. It’s about making the right choices, whilst bearing in mind our own wants vs the planet’s needs. The Gifting world, admittedly, is chock-full of ‘throw-away’, unsustainable options and practices, but this is where Truffle & Thyme are doing our best to help our own clients Gift responsibly.
We obviously love to use local, West Country producers, suppliers and wholesalers if at all possible, reducing those all important food-miles whilst supporting fellow foodie businesses like ours. Tracklements is our closest, just 5 minutes away and hailing from the same business park where we are based, for instance. Many of our suppliers are small scale artisans, whose own practices are far less environmentally taxing than large scale producers. use recyclable/recycled packaging within our hampers, cutting out all unnecessary single-use plastics and packaging; we like to hand-deliver locally ourselves, reducing extra chilled packaging and mileage; .
Finally, Truffle & Thyme are a family run business, with our own two young children just beginning to dip their toes into the big, wide world. Because of this it’s even more crucial to us that we’re growing a business in such a way, that hopefully helps ensure they can do the same for their own children, when the time possibly comes.
